Skagway Drowning Victim Identified

The Teller County Coroner has identified the man who drowned in Skagway Reservoir last week as 28-year-old Brian Anderson from Colorado Springs.

Dive teams recovered Anderson’s body on Saturday afternoon after searching for over 30 hours. Witnesses reported that a canoe tipped over and a man went under water on Thursday. According to the witnesses, the man began screaming for help before his canoe tipped over. The camper had to drive to Victor to get cell phone reception to call for help.

The Coroner tells us that Anderson was not wearing a life preserver and the water’s surface temperature was 57 degrees.
