Soldier Wishes To Help Daughter

A Ft. Carson soldier is hoping a specially trained service dog can improve his daughters life.

Tamer Sayed said his 5-year-old Alivia was born with a level IV intraventricular brain hemorrhage.

Her condition has caused blood clots in her brain and required a shunt implant.

Alivia has suffered daily seizures and slowed development. She has a cognitive function of a 2-year-old.

A service dog would cost their family $15,000. So a special fundraiser was held on Saturday.

VA Mortgage Center of Colorado Springs, New Generation Homes, Unified Title Company and Sellstate Alliance Reality were the event’s sponsors.

New Generation Homes also made a $5 donation for every family who tours one of their model homes.

“We are very grateful. It has been an outstanding day, thanks to the community,” said Sayed.

They are still collecting donations. Donations can be made at VA Mortgage Center of Colorado Springs, New Generation Homes and Unified Title Company Offices. Please made checks payable to VA Mortgage Center of Colorado Springs.

To make a credit card donation, call the VA Mortgage Center at (719) 433-7651.

Checks can also be mailed to the VA Mortgage Center at 502 E. Pikes Peak Ave. Suite 200, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.

It will be about a year before Alivia can receive her service dog. Sayed said the dog will go through special training to accommodate her needs.
