Advertising Reflecting New American Family

A slight majority of Americans say gay marriage should be legal. And that support is not lost on American advertising. Commercials are starting to reflect new attitudes and new realities about the many definitions of the modern American family including ads that feature homosexual and interracial couples.

When Ellen came out JC Penney pulled their ads from her show, but 15 years later Ellen is now the face of JC Penney. Now a new clothing ad featuring a real-life same-sex couple is in JC Penney’s may catalogue. It was attacked by a conservative group “One Million Moms” for what it called “taking sides” in the culture war.
