Hiker Finds Body Near Aspen Campsite

The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after a hiker found a body that was partially covered by snow at a campsite near Aspen.

Deputy George F. Kremer said a woman hiking with her dog found the body of a middle-aged white man at about 3:30 p.m. Friday in the White River National Forest, about 14 miles south of Aspen. The area is a popular destination for recreation.

The man’s identity has not been released.
