CSU Pueblo Computer Problems On The Mend

Computer problems for Colorado State University Pueblo students, teachers and staff should be cleared up by 8 a.m. Wednesday.

A broken part in the school’s computer system brought the server crashing down on Tuesday, according to a CSU Pueblo spokeswoman. Students we talked to said problems began Monday night.

Many teachers at the school use a blackboard — an online spot for class notes, assignments and communication that has been inaccessible since the server went down.

“For our preparation [our teacher] gave us all the slide numbers we need to study and that’s on blackboard,” said Stephanie Heaton, a sophomore at CSU Pueblo.

Students say this problem may leave them unprepared for this week’s final exams.

“Instead of being able to study now to have a grasp or understanding for Friday, I have to wait until [Wednesday] then I only have 24 hours to study,” worried Jackeline Sosa, a sophomore.

Like many students this week, Sosa said her grade depends on a strong finish to the school year.

“I might have to retake the class if [it’s not fixed.] I’m just on the borderline,” said Sosa. “I’m hoping it gets fixed and if it’s not fixed its going to hit my grade pretty bad.”

At this point, CSU Pueblo isn’t planning to change its schedule because of the computer issues. They’re asking students who ran into problems Tuesday that may affect their grade to contact the Office of the Provost.
