Students Charged With Trying To Sell Gun At School
Three students are being investigated after a gun was found in a student’s locker at Sabin Middle School. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
District 11 tells us that a tip came from a parent who said one of the students may have a gun in her locker. School officials checked the locker and found a gun.
Colorado Springs Police tell us that the student brought the gun to school with intention to sell it. Three suspects involved with bringing and hiding the weapon were charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds, illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, and interference with staff faculty or student of educational institutions.
D11 spokesperson, Devra Ashby, says three students are being suspended for the incident. All three are students at Sabin Middle School and are being held at Spring Creek Youth Detention Center. They will each face a hearing at the “office of student discipline” sometime next week.
