Remembering Fallen Springs Police Detective
Wednesday marks six years since a Colorado Springs Police Detective was killed in the line of duty.
Detective Jared Jensen was shot and killed while attempting arrest a parolee who was wanted for attempted murder.
The suspect shot Detective Jensen several times in the face. He was transported to Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
The Colorado Springs Police Department paid a tribute to Detective Jensen on their Facebook page Wednesday. Their message, accompanied by a photograph of Detective Jensen, says, “WE WILL NEVER FORGET! Six years ago on February 22 CSPD Detective Jared Jensen was killed in the line of duty while attempting to arrest a suspect for Attempted Murder. Please help us honor his memory.”
The suspect, Jeremy Lamberth, was apprehended by FBI and ATF agents following a massive manhunt and was subsequently convicted of second degree murder. On May 5, 2008, Lamberth was sentenced to 96 years in prison.
