Pueblo Teens Learning How To Be Deputies

A group of teenagers is learning to save lives. Its part of the Pueblo County Explorers program.

The Explorers and members of the Civil Air Patrol attended a CPR training Saturday morning.

The program also gives teenagers insight to what life is like as a deputy.

“The life of a law enforcement officer is not always chasing bad guys and doing things like that. We help the community and we do a lot of community outreach,” said Deputy Laurie Kilpatrick. Kilpatrick helps oversee the program.

Kilpatrick said the program also helps keep teens out of trouble.

The program has been over the past few years. The amount of students has doubled. The program now has 31 high school students from all over Pueblo County.
