Fort Carson Hosts 2012 USA Boxing National Championships

The Mountain Post will host the 2012 USA Boxing National Championships from Feb. 26-Mar. 3 at the Special Events Center on post.

A record-breaking 718 boxers have registered to compete in the championships. The annual tournament will be the penultimate qualifier for the 2012 Olympic Games in the seven non-qualified men’s weight divisions. The tournament will also determine the U.S. Women’s World Championship team.

Preliminary rounds will run from Sunday through Wednesday with two sessions daily at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday will feature quarterfinal action in two sessions at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., with the semifinal bouts being contested at 4 p.m. Friday. Championship bouts are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday.

Admission for all rounds is free, except for the 6 p.m. Saturday championship bouts, which are $12.50 if purchased before Feb. 28 or for any spectators with valid United States Olympic Committee or DoD identification. For more ticketing information, click here.
