UPDATE: Suspect Arrested In CSPD Motorcycle Officer Hit And Run
A suspect has been arrested after the driver of a pickup truck drove away after sideswiping a police officer on a motorcycle.
It happened near 21st street and Colorado Avenue on the west side of town.
Police tell our KRDO NewsChannel 13 crew on scene that the officer was trying to pull over the person in the truck for speeding. The truck was going around 80 mph on Cimarron then turned on 21st St. He then made a U-turn on 21st and hit the motorcycle officer.
20-year-old Joshua McInnis was taken into custody on Twin Oaks Dr. on Thursday afternoon. He is being charged with Hit & Run, Careless Driving, Eluding and D.L. Violations – as his license was suspended at the time.
The officer was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Police say he has been released with minor bruises on his legs.
The vehicle was a teal Toyota pickup truck with a license plate of 751-OZN, according to police.
