Water Main Break Near Galley And Babcock

There is a water main break in the area of Galley and Babcock.

According to Colorado Springs Utilities, the break is on Lehmberg Ave. near Waddell Ave.

CSU arrived at the scene at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Service has been disconnected for 11 customers. The break is right next to Patrick Henry Elementary School but the school’s water service has not been affected.

The school says afternoon traffic for student pick-up will be affected. Parents are asked to use Babcock Rd, off of Palmer Park, to Waddell Street to pick up students from the parent parking lot. Traffic is not allowed down Lemberg Blvd.

Utilities says it will take 4-8 hours to fix the break. All customers are expected to have water service returned by 5 p.m. Wednesday. Utility crews say the road will be repaved Thursday after school is in session. Parents will be able to drop off students normally before the road closes at 8:30 a.m. After that time, parents will have to use the parent parking lot to access the school.

There are no traffic impacts on Platte or Murray.

We have a crew on scene. Stay tuned to KRDO.com and NewsChannel 13 for updates.
