Police; Unruly Bar Patron Punches Officer

Colorado Springs police said a man who was arrested punched an officer in the stomach as he was trying to fill out paperwork on the arrest.

Officials said it started when officers were called to the Ritz Bar and Grill at about 1 a.m. Sunday.

Police said David Bodin, 31, was being disorderly and was asked to leave the bar. He left but returned a short time later and was still unruly, officials said.

Officers arrested him for obstructing a police officer and took him to a temporary holding cell at the Police Operations center.

Officers spoke to him again at about 2:50 a.m. to complete paperwork, and Bodin punched an officer in the stomach, officials said.

The officer had minor injuries. Bodin faced charges of 2nd degree assault on a peace officer.
