Thousands Of Christmas Wishes Are Granted
Many southern Colorado families received special gifts this holiday season through the Bob Telmoss Christmas giveaway.
The 29th annual event was held at the Freedom Financial Expo Center off North Nevada Avenue on Wednesday.
“People this time of year, this economy need this help,” said volunteer Todd Garcia.
Each family was escorted through the Christmas giveaway. Children were able to pick out a book, toy and stuffed animal. They also shopped for a present for their parents.
Families were also given a Christmas dinner.
It all started in 1962 by Bob Telmoss as a special Easter dinner and grew into a Christmas giveaway including toys, clothing and food.
Telmoss died in 2006. But his legacy continues through the Bob Telmoss Foundation and through the generosity of the community.
Organizers estimated at least 8,000 people turned out. A fundraiser in November helped raise $6,000 for the event.
