A Colorado woman has been arrested after her two grandchildren were found walking along a road by themselves.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Deputies found two children under the age of 5 walking in the area of 3200 E. County Line Road Tuesday morning. Deputies took custody of the children while they searched for an adult responsible for them.

Deputies were able to locate the residence and the childrens’ grandmother, 42-year-old Yolanda Borders of Highlands Ranch.

Borders was arrested and released on a summons for child abuse.

The two children and another 16-year-old were taken into protective custody and are under the care of Douglas County Human Services.
