Police Make Drug Bust In Colo. Springs

According to Colorado Springs Police, an investigation conducted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration out of Chicago discovered large quantities of marijuana were being transported to the area from Colorado Springs.

On Friday, the Metro Vice, Narcotics and Intelligence Division worked with the Illinois State Police in the execution of three search warrants in Colorado Springs and Elbert County.

Investigators uncovered a 100-acre property in Elbert County that police say was used for the ?cultivation; manufacture packaging and distribution of illegally grown marijuana.?

Police also say the property had ?numerous grow sites located inside of numerous building and greenhouses throughout the vast property. Other grow locations were discovered outside on the property, concealed among large pine trees and rock outcroppings.?

According to police, four arrests have been made in the Chicago area. Police say those arrested ?are principal players in this investigation? and that they ?all have ties to both Chicago Illinois and Colorado Springs/Elbert County.?

There have been no arrests made in Colorado.

The investigation is ongoing.
