Two Teens Shot in NE Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs police are still looking for suspects after two people were shot Sunday night in Carver Park near North Carefree Circle and Academy Boulevard. Neighbors said the victims are teenage boys who attend Doherty High School. Both are expected to survive.

Police said the call came in just before 6:30 p.m. from the 4400 block of Delighted Circle South, where one of the victims lives. Benjamin Neilson, a neighbor who was with the teens, said a group of three men and a woman were threatening the victims. He said one of the guys in the group started shooting.

“There was a couple of rounds that hit, a couple that went by us,” said Neilson. “When we got away, I was checking to see if any of us got hit and the two guys next door had both been hit. One in the chest and one in the arm.”

Neilson said the four suspects left in a black sedan. He said the victims had been having problems with them, but wasn’t sure if they were also students.

Neilson said one of the shooting victims was awake late Sunday night and the other was recovering after surgery.
