Denver Putting Defibrillators In Every School

Denver Public Schools is installing 179 defibrillators this week as the system puts the cardiac arrest devices in every public school.

The Denver Post reports Friday that some schools will have up to four of the devices.

They’re being paid for by a program called Save a Life Denver, part of the American Red Cross Mile High Chapter.

The Red Cross says defibrillation with CPR is the definitive treatment for sudden cardiac arrest, which causes 300,000 deaths in the U.S. each year.

The Red Cross will also provide discounted training in using the devices.

Save a Life Denver has placed more than 600 defibrillators across the state.

They are available at no cost to eligible businesses and institutions.

The University of Denver is getting 80 units.
