Pueblo PD Investigating Attempted Kidnapping

The Pueblo Police Department is looking for help from the public in finding a man wanted in an attempted kidnapping.

On August 4th about 2:40 p.m., Pueblo police officers were dispatched to 1st and Union Avenue on a traffic crash, said officers.

When officers arrived, they contacted a terrified 24 year-old woman who told police she had just left the Pueblo Board of Water Works at 5th Street and Grand Avenue and was driving south on Union when she heard noise coming from the back seat of her mini-van, officers said.

The woman said she turned around and saw a man climbing over the seats and coming toward her, said Pueblo PD investigators. The woman told police she screamed and jumped out of the van leaving it in gear, which then rolled through the intersection and hit a tree before coming to rest on the curb, said police.

The suspect then ran away, said officers.

Surveillance video showed the victim pulling into the parking lot followed by the suspect about a minute later, according to investigators. The suspect was driving a gold two door 2001 to 2004 Toyota Solara with a dark colored glass sunroof, according top Pueblo police.

The victim entered the office building and was walking out when she passed the suspect in the breeze way, said officers. The man followed her to the parking lot and when she returned inside the office building the suspect moved his vehicle from the parking lot and returned on foot and entered her vehicle, police said.

After completing her business the victim returned to her vehicle and left the parking lot, said officers.

Police say describe the suspect as a white male, 5?07? to 5?10? tall, with dirty short sandy blond hair with a pronounced receding hair line, and weighing between 150 and 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark colored long sleeved button-up shirt and dark colored pants, said police.

Police are asking for anyone with information on the suspect or his vehicle to call CrimeStoppers, 719-542-STOP (7867)
