Steve Bach Wins Mayor Race In Colorado Springs
Steve Bach won the strong mayor runoff race Tuesday in Colorado Springs.
Opponent Richard Skorman conceded the race in a phone call to Bach just before 8 p.m.
“I love this city and I believe in our future, and I will work hard every day to be the best mayor our city has ever had,” Bach tweeted Tuesday night.
According to final results, Bach won by a margin of 57 percent (56,466 votes) to 43 percent (42,315 votes).
In winning, Bach overcame several controversies involving campaign financing, his personal life and his relationship with developers. He correctly predicted that voters would look past the controversies and focus on who was the best candidate for the job.
Bach ran for mayor on a platform of creating jobs, stimulating the local economy and restoring trust in city government. He defeated Skorman, a former City Councilman and small businessman who also was known for helping to relocate dozens of Hurricane Katrina evacuees to the city.
Bach will be sworn in as mayor on June 7 at 10 a.m.
