COLORADO SPRINGS – New clues are in that could lead to the whereabouts of that missing Compassion International worker.

According to Kathy Redmond, U.S. Communication Director, “we have heard reports that after that earthquake hit there were some tapping heard at the hotel.” In fact, search and rescue now know exactly where David Hames was last seen, thanks to Dan Woolley’s pictures and descriptions. Woolley is also from Compassion International rescued from Haiti last week.

“Our hope is that it may have shifted debris so that rescue workers can get even further down in there,” stated Redmond. Workers are finding large pockets of open area within the rubble, praying that Hames is in one of them and is okay.

Compassion has also learned that one of their Haitian workers passed away on Tuesday. “It’s really very much a personal thing for us and we’re really feeling the emotional impact of that,” Redmond said. “That staff (in Haiti) we know, we communicate, we go down and visit.”

Meanwhile, no word yet on the thousands of sponsored children. Compassion is estimating 15,000 of the kids have been affected by the earthquake, but we are not sure just how bad.

Crisis teams are assessing the status, helping out in any way possible. “We are lean over there, but very efficient,” Redmond stated.
