Budget Cuts Effect Plowing
COLORADO SPRINGS – Fewer people working with the Colorado Springs Streets Division means you might be waiting longer to dig out of the storm. A spokesperson with the Colorado Springs Streets Division no longer plows streets with less than six inches of snow. Bard Lower, Streets Division Spokesperson says, “this is actually not bad there’s a lot of places in the denver area including denver that don’t do anything till there’s 12 inches of snow in residentials.”
Budget cuts are leading to less money for plower and will leave people waiting longer and Lower says you have to factor in the city has grown. In 1990 the streets division had around a hundred and forty people working to clear the streets. The city has grown 40 percent in the past 19 years and now there’s only around 120 plowing the streets.
