Denver Police Take Pay Cuts
DENVER – Denver Police have agreed to a 2 percent pay cut to help the city save money.
The union representing Denver police officers reached the tentative agreement with city officials Friday.
The agreement will save the city more than $2 million as it faces a projected $56 million budget gap.
The police would not lose base health care benefits under the plan.
However, they would lose for at least one year premium holiday pay, birthday holidays and some compensation they receive for equipment and uniforms.
The Denver Post reports the union members will vote on the proposal next week.
Denver firefighters have also reached a tentative agreement to reduce pay and benefits.
