Possible Home Invasion May Involve Kidnapping Suspect

EL PASO COUNTY -A home invasion around8 a.m. Friday is near the area where an active manhunt for a kidnapping suspect is being carried out.CSPDfrom the Falcon division are investigatinga home invasiononWoodmont Drive, near Meddle Creek Parkway and Voyager. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police have narrowed their search for the home invasion suspect who may be related to the kidnapping in Taos, New Mexico Thursday afternoon. A Sheriff spokesperson says the man attempted to kidnap 27-year-old Valerie Esquibel but she escaped.It’s believed the suspect’s car ran out of gas near the Gleneagle exit in El Paso County. Deputies say the Esquibel jumped out of the car and was chased by the suspect before getting away.Esquibel issafe and with deputies.

The El Paso County Sheriff’sOffice says inclement weather and lack of any sign of the manhampered search efforts for the suspect. Deputies will remain in this area for the next several hours to support any additional sightings. The search was centered near the Gleneagle area innorthern El Paso County near the Mining Museum Thursday Night and Friday morning.

The man may be armed and is considered dangerous. He is described as a six-foot tall, Native American man with black, spikey hair. He was last seen wearing brown camouflage pants and a black, short sleeve shirt with white long underwear. El Paso County Sheriff Lt. Lari Seven says authoritiesworked with the kidnap victim to develop a sketch of the suspect.

Deputies tell NEWSCHANNEL 13 anyone who sees him should not attempt to contact him. Instead, you’re asked to call the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office dispatch Center at 390-5555.

Sheriff’s deputies have the suspect’s car, a black Chrysler Sebring. Deputies believe the man is in search of another victim so that he can escape by car.

Residents of the area are asked to keep their doors and windows locked and report any sightings of suspect to CSPD at 444-7000 or EPSO at 390-5555 or dial 911.
