Springs Driver Shot In Chest, Arm

COLORADO SPRINGS – A Colorado Springs man is shot through the drivers side window of his car while stopped at Barnes and Powers. It happened around 2:45 Wednesday Morning. Colorado Springs Police say the 53 year old victim was stopped, when a green Ford Escort station wagon pulled up next to his vehicle. A white man in his 20’s got out of the station wagon and pointed a shotgun at the victim. The 53 year old tried to drive away, but the suspect opened fire, hitting the man in the chest and arm. The victim drove to a Sinclar station at Academy and Constitution to find help. He was taken to Memorial Hospital. His injuries are not life threatening.

The suspet is described as a white male in his 20’s, 5′-11″, with brown hair and wearing a black or grey hooded sweatshirt.

Police think the shooting may be related to a personal robbery earlier in the evening in which awhite man in his 20’s threatened a 19 year old female with a shotgun and demanded her purse. That incident happened around 2:20 am in the 3800 block of Half Turn Road. The suspect in that incident may have been riding in a Silver Pontiac Grand Am.
