Steve’s Garden: Rain brings much needed relief for plants

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- It's been a great week for plants in southern Colorado.

While some areas saw enough rain to see flash flooding, a lot of areas got good, healthy rains each day. The herbs in the garden are starting to show more health and growth as the summer progresses.

More of the tomatoes and chilis are ripening in the garden as well, meaning some more salsa may be in KRDO13's future soon. It seems like the strength of the rain may have hit some leaves in the garden pretty hard.

There is still some work to do, as some plants are starting to flower because they've seen so much growth.

Southern Colorado is expecting another hot and dry weekend, so growers should keep a close eye on their plants through the change in weather.
