Air Force football player named Mountain West offensive player of the week

Air Force sophomore fullback Brad Roberts was named the Mountain West offensive player of the week, according to an announcement today from the conference. Roberts recorded career highs in every category in Air Force’s 28-0 win over New Mexico last Friday, Nov. 20.

Roberts rushed for 177 yards and three touchdowns with long run of 44 yards on 28 carries in just his second career game and first career start. His yards, touchdowns and carries are the most by a Falcon this season. Roberts scored on runs five, 12 and 44 yards. His 177-yard effort is the best by a player in the Mountain West this season while his three TD runs ties as the most.

Roberts leads the Falcons in rushing with 280 yards and in rushing touchdowns with four. He is averaging 140 yards per game which would lead the conference, but a player must play in 75 percent of the team’s games to qualify. Roberts opened the season rushing for 103 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries vs. Navy. He missed the next two games and returned to the lineup vs. New Mexico.

The player of the week award is the first of Roberts career and first by an Air Force player this season. Air Force, 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the MW, hosts Colorado State Thursday, Nov. 26, at Noon in Falcon Stadium.
