Manitou Springs cancels football season

Manitou Springs has decided to cancel its football season. There were some outbreaks of Covid-19 which prevented the Mustangs from playing in their first three games of the season. The school district decided on Thursday that they will not continue the football season. Suzi Thompson, the Chief Financial Officer for the Manitou Springs School District says that the decision was not easy. She also says that the significant outbreak had a ripple effect and that they needed to return to competitive play in a gradual way as a football program.

Manitou Springs will petition CHSAA to see if they will be allowed to transition to the spring season. Manitou Springs says they understand that it might not be possible to play in the spring but given the fact that they didn't play at all, they believe it's a fight worth fighting.
