Outdoor hockey at Acacia Park

The next week or so is all about outdoor hockey, but it's not just for the Colorado Avalanche or local college hockey teams. Young women from Colorado Springs are taking part in an outdoor tournament at Acacia park. The four team tournament features players ten and under "It's really fun because I don't usually get to play games just for fun because I play on a travel team," says Sophia Somora. "Yeah it's cold but the girls don't mind, "I hope it snows because it's kind of cool when it snows," says Chloe Wright, Sometimes it feels like you're freezing and like your toes are falling off sometimes. But it also feels cool to be outside playing hockey. My two favorite things," says Annika Payne.

These girls are sharp too. They're even making pitches for people to come out and watch them play, "Anyone who's like: Oh that's cool, I want to see. They can come and see here," says Payne.

"That's really cool because other hockey games, you have to pay for them. But instead of being indoors, you can be outdoors and see other kids play," says Bella Bonfadini. It's a big deal to play games that count outdoors. No matter the level, "It's sort of like one of those things you never forget. It's just a special memory. Like a special birthday party or something," says Payne.
