Broncos hire new salary cap director

Denver Broncos general manager John Elway has completed a major shakeup of his personnel department with the hiring of Rich Hurtado as the team's lead contract negotiator. Hurtado has spent the last 11 years as a player agent following four years in the Philadelphia Eagles' football administration. Hurtado's hiring comes after the recent decision not to renew the contract of salary cap director Mike Sullivan. The Broncos have more than $60 million in cap space and have several key in-house free agents including star safety Justin Simmons and cornerback Chris Harris Jr.
