COVID hospitalizations rising among people not vaccinated
COLORADO (KRDO) -- Colorado doctors are now saying COVID-19 vaccine supplies are outpacing demand.
State health officials say more than half of all eligible Coloradans have received at least one dose and more than a third are now fully immune.
Despite the strides in vaccination, COVID hospitalizations are still rising, especially among people who are not yet vaccinated.
State health officials are continuing to urge Coloradans to get the vaccine.
"Much of the early demand has been met. We're moving into that phase of vaccinations where we're focusing on a population that is a little slower to become vaccinated. They're still very interested, they just haven't made the time or the effort to date," said Dr. Eric France, CDPHE Chief Medical Officer.
The CDPHE says it is starting to work with general physicians as another source for vaccine distribution.
State officials are now advising people to reach out to their primary care doctors with vaccine questions.
