Pueblo Mayor asks residents to stay vigilant in preventing the spread of COVID-19
PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Pueblo Mayor Nick Gradisar released a message to residents about COVID-19 in Pueblo.
On Wednesday, Gradisar said while 42 percent of all eligible adults being vaccinated is good, it's not enough.
In Pueblo, Gradisar said infection rates are still headed in the wrong direction, pointing to an alarming statistic from last week.
"Last week our 7-day incident rate for 100,000 in population was 256 cases. This was the highest infection rate on the Colorado Front Range," said Gradisar. "Although we can see the light at the end of this pandemic, we have to remain vigilant. We cannot be so anxious that we prematurely spike the ball on the two-yard line."
Gradisar went on to say it's now easier than ever to get vaccinated in Pueblo, thanks to the FEMA partnership happening at the Colorado State Fairgrounds.
That site is now one of three Colorado locations taking walk-ins without an appointment.
