Street musician unknowingly duets with Chris Martin on Coldplay song

(CNN) — Coldplay singer Chris Martin has surprised a street musician in central London for an impromptu performance of the British band’s hit “Viva la Vida.”

Ahn Ji-hoon, who performs as HannyJunee, from South Korea, told CNN that the moment was “like a movie.” He said the crowd chose the track as his last song during a performance in Trafalgar Square, London, on Friday.

“As the music started, this stranger guy walked up wearing a cool hat and sunglasses. In my head, I thought, ‘Oh, this guy knows how to enjoy the vibe. Nice. Must be a massive Coldplay fan,’” he told CNN on Tuesday.

“We’ve had cool participants before, so I just rolled with it,” added the artist.

“When he sang the first line, I thought, ‘Whoa, this guy’s vocal timbre is insane. He sounds remarkably like Chris Martin.’ But did I think it was actually Chris Martin? Absolutely not,” said the singer.

“What are the odds that Chris Martin himself gets magically summoned right next to you on a random street in London at the exact final moment?” he said, adding that he thought it was something that “only happens in movies.”

“He was smiling brightly and genuinely having the time of his life, and so was I,” said the performer.

“He coolly walked away right after the song ended, and then the crowd swarmed me, shouting, “Do you know who that was?” I asked ‘who,’ and they said, “It was the real Chris Martin,” he added.

“I’m just endlessly grateful for that unforgettable moment and the way it’s connecting me with so many incredible souls around the world right now,” said HannyJunee, who also posted a video of the performance on Instagram.

“Still can‘t believe this happened,” reads the caption. “Thank you Chris for the most unforgettable moment of my life.”

This is not the first time that Martin has surprised fans with an unexpected performance.

Last year, he surprised a couple at their wedding after the groom’s mother reached out to Martin for a video message. Instead, the musician showed up in person and performed for their first dance.

A few months earlier, he played an impromptu set at a pub in West Yorkshire, northern England.

“People just turned up for a drink and saw Chris Martin unloading pianos – can you believe that?” an attendee named Andy Varley told the BBC at the time. “Chris was really chatty and really engaged and even put a picture on his piano that one of the customers’ children had made for him.”
