One person transported to local hospital after crash near Downtown Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS,Colo. (KRDO)-- One person is in the hospital after being seriously injured after a rollover crash near downtown Colorado Springs.

According to Colorado Springs Police (CSPD) this car accident happened on northbound I-25, south of the Bijou exit on Saturday at 6:15PM.

Passing motorists rendered aid until Colorado Springs Police, Fire Department and AMR personnel arrived on scene, according to CSPD.

CSPD said on scene they confirmed speed was a factor in the crash and a second vehicle southbound was struck by debris from the crash northbound.

I-25 was closed for approximately one hour northbound for the crash investigation, and additional 30 minutes with limited lane access,according to CSPD.

CSPD is no longer asking people to avoid the area.
