Teen makes special request of mom’s boyfriend at her grad party

Graduation marks the end of a chapter, but for one Illinois teen, hers was the beginning of an era.

Lauren Hernandez’s loved ones gathered for her party at her home, and while she received presents, she had one of her own for her mother’s boyfriend.

She gave a wrapped box to Joe Iosco, who has dated her mom for the past 17 years.

Inside the box was a framed poem of appreciation from Lauren and also an envelope with a set of legal documents inside.

“I am asking Joe to adopt me,” Lauren explained.

Of course, Joe said yes.

“In the end she chose me, and there’s no better gift than that,” said Joe.
