Colorado turns 140

It was 140 years ago on Monday, August 1 that Colorado was officially recognized as a state.

To celebrate the Centennial state’s birthday, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is allowing free access to all 42 state parks today.

They say it’s a way to say thank you to everyone who enjoy the parks and for their support.

Colorado’s first state park, Cherry Creek, was created 56 years after the state’s first birthday.
