Pueblo County man facing second-degree murder charge for 2022 death of his father

PCSO

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- 42-year-old Paul Sandoval was arrested Thursday by the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) after a months-long investigation into the Sept. 2022 death of his 90-year-old father, Benndy Sandoval.

According to the PCSO, the younger Sandoval was arrested on a warrant for second-degree murder and robbery of an at-risk adult. He has a $500,000 bond.

The PCSO said deputies responded to a Pueblo West home on Sept. 8, 2022, for a family disturbance. Witnesses told deputies that Paul Sandoval had grabbed his father by the neck and thrown him to the ground during an argument over money.

At that time, Benny Sandoval refused medical treatment and did not want to pursue charges against his son. Later that day, however, deputies responded to a medical call involving the older Sandoval, who had to be taken to a Colorado Springs hospital for bleeding on his brain.

According to the PCSO, Benny Sandoval died on Sept. 30, 2022, from blunt-force trauma, and his death was ruled a homicide. An arrest warrant was then issued for Paul Sandoval.
