Cannabis clubs begin citywide campaign to gather signatures

The owners of eight local cannabis clubs are organizing a referendum concerning ordinances recently passed on cannabis clubs.

Owners of My Club 420, The Dab Lounge, 1 Love, Canna Canyon, Lazy Lion, Springs Dreams, The Pothole and Studio A64 have come together to form the People’s Social Alliance.

PSA is organizing a referendum and plans on doing a citywide campaign to gather signatures.

“The clubs have spoken, the people have spoken. Everytime you go to a city council meeting there’s numerous people waiting to speak their mind, so I don’t think finding the people to voice their opinion is going to be a problem,” said Joe Trevino, My Club 420.

This comes following the recently passed ban on cannabis clubs. Colorado Springs City Council voted 6 to 3 on March 22 to ban cannabis clubs within the city. Existing clubs will have to close within eight years.

Club owners have filed a petition with City Clerk Sarah Johnson. They have until April 21st to gather nearly 14,649 signatures.
