Police: K-9 sniffs out nearly $225,000 worth of meth during traffic stop

The Pueblo Police Department says hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of meth are off the streets thanks to K-9 Widget.

Widget alerted his human colleagues to the presence of drugs during a traffic stop at 5:36 a.m. on March 6.

Police say the Chrysler 300 with Arizona plates was pulled over near Mile Marker 91 because it was speeding.

There were two adults and two children in the car.

Police say they found four packages of meth with a combined weight of more than 2,000 grams and an estimated street value of $224,740.

The driver of the car, Amado Navidad Sanchez, managed to get away. He faces charges for drug trafficking.

If you know where Sanchez is, you are asked to call 719-542-STOP (7867) or submit an online tip at CrimeSuspect.net.
