Pueblo woman survives train derailment

A Pueblo woman was one of at least 32 people hurt when a train derailed in rural Kansas.

Kelsey Wilson was on her way back to college after spending a few days in Pueblo on spring break with her family and boyfriend.

Five of the nine Amtrack passenger cars derailed.

Kelsey says she hit her head but was able to crawl out through a window after her train car tipped.

She was able to call her family a few minutes after the accident.

“It’s not something you expect that you’re going to get a call that your child was in a train wreck or a train crash,” said Kelsey’s mother, Kathy Wilson.

“Honestly when it first started shaking like that I didn’t really think much of it because they’re always so rough anyway. So I guess part of me isn’t really surprised that this happened,” said Kelsey.

Kelsey was taken to a hospital where she was told she had a concussion and given a neck brace.
