UPDATED: Police: Woman repeatedly crashes into house

A woman faces attempted murder charges after she repeatedly crashed her van into a Colorado Springs home, police said.

According to CSPD, Carol Gallegos, 56, repeatedly rammed her minivan into a house in the 1400 block of Crestone Avenue Thursday evening.

Neighbors say they are surprised to see something like this happen in a typically quiet neighborhood.

“Suddenly there were two firetrucks and two squad cars. They were here for an hour or two,” said Alex Gauthier, who lives next door.

A young woman and her two children were inside the house at the time of the crash.

“Ms. Gallegos had been involved in a relationship with (the young woman in the home’s) adult father. That relationship had been broken off,” Lt. Catherine Buckley with the Colorado Springs Police Department explained.

The woman was able to get her children out before the wall collapsed, police said. Gallegos then reportedly drove away.

She was arrested about 40 minutes later after police say she caused a four-car crash when she ran a red light at S. 21st Street and Cimarron Street.

Gallegos faces several charges, including three counts of attempted murder and driving under the influence of alcohol.

As for Gauthier, he says the incident doesn’t shake his security.

“I haven’t really felt my safety in question or anything like that,” Gauthier added.
