High fire danger today – 10/17/19

TODAY: High thin clouds will be streaming through the area today and winds will also be on the increase. Gusts will top out between 30-40 mph which will contribute to some high fire danger. Red Flag Warnings are in place for much of the state until 9pm tonight, so be sure to put your fire prevention to practice! Highs will be unusually warm for this time of the year and will top out in the upper 60s, 70s and 80s.

TONIGHT: High thin clouds clear out and lows cool to the 30s and 40s. Breezy weather will help to keep us milder.

EXTENDED: A cold front moves in tomorrow and that will be bringing us cooler temps in the 50s and 60s along with a handful of rain showers. Some of those raindrops will mix will snow over the high country. Dry, continued cool weather is expected for Sunday before a bigger and stronger storm system passes through on Sunday. Right now rain and snow look possible, but the accumulation appears to be minor. Cooler temps and some stronger winds look far more likely, with the bulk of the moisture staying well north and northeast of Colorado.
