Colorado Springs Police: Juvenile suspect arrested in deadly September shooting

MGN

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Police Department arrested a juvenile in connection to a September shooting that left one man dead.

On Sunday, Sept. 18, officers responded to the 6000 block of Gunshot Pass Dr. on reports of a shooting. At the scene, officers found a man dead. The El Paso County Coroner's Office later identified the victim as 19-year-old Trevor Branson of Colorado Springs.

On Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Murder in the first degree for a juvenile male for Branson's homicide.

Monday, the CSPD says a deputy with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office took the juvenile male into custody on his warrant.

Because the suspect is underage, the CSPD says no additional information will be released at this time.

Branson's death is the 34th homicide investigation in Colorado Springs so far this year. In 2021, CSPD investigated 25 homicides.

Police say this is still an open investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Colorado Springs Police Department at 719-444-7000. To remain anonymous, contact the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 719-634-7867.
