Bugs Love the Recent Wet Weather

If you’ve noticed more bugs buzzing around lately – you can blame the weather.

Exterminators say the recent heavy rains have caused an extremely active bug season.

Part of the problem is all of the standing water, which is the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Other bugs, don’t mind the rain either. Spiders like black widows and the brown recluse are also frequent house guests this time of the year.

Alec Diaz of Independent Pest Control said, “The last couple of weeks I’ve seen quite a few spiders., quite a few black widows. Wolf spiders have been picking up just because of the weather. (I’ve) been running into brown recluses occasionally.”

Exterminators say another thing that keeps them going are calls about termites.

They say the number of calls about termite problems have gone up in the past few weeks.
