Teen pulled from roaring river

boy is safe tonight after pueblo emergency crews rescued him while he was stuck in the middle of the rushing arkansas river. it all happened at around six-30 tonight right under the moffat bridge near santa fe drive. 20 emergency rescuers responded. rescue crews say another boy was in the river but he got out of the river safely. only on krdo newschannel 13 carl winder spoke with a man who witnessed the whole thing and called 9-1- scanner traffic: he’s downrom your location, he is below the bridge. in a race against rapids and seconds… a 15-year-old boy stuck in the middle of a raging araknsas river. Sot: when he started fishing the water started going over. sot: i was scared for him, i thought for sure he was going to be a goner. joe miera saw the teen stuck while walking around the river. he wanted to save the boy…so he made the life saving call. sot: my first reaction was to call and get help. stand up: according to the Pueblo fire department, the boy said when he walked out to the river it was up to his knees, when the river started surging in it went all the way up to his neck. Sot: one of the first things we did was get a life preserver on him so that in case he did fall and go over he would at least have a vest. desperate to get him out. sot: we had a line on him in an attempt to keep him just in case he started to go, we helped him against the current and the water and that’s how we kind of helped him walk back across. preventing this boy’s day of fishing from turning into something so much worse. in pueblo carl winder krdo newschannel 13. firefighters say if you are going to be 10 feet within the water be sure to have a vest on for any water activity. the rain is
