Teller County Sheriff’s Office changing how emergency and non-emergency alerts send out

TELLER COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Teller County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) is changing the way residents will receive emergency and non-emergency notifications. Effective August 30, the TCSO will switch from the NIXLE platform to Peak Alerts.

According to a Facebook post, people will now only have to register through one platform to receive all notifications.

Through Peak Alerts, users can register for up to five locations. The TCSO says that way people can get alerts for locations like their home, work, school, and more. Notifications will be sent out through a phone call, text, email, web, or fax.

According to the TCSO, people can also subscribe to non-emergency notifications. That includes information on burn restrictions, road closures, and visible smoke.

The TCSO says non-emergency alerts will be sent through email and the Everbridge App. This allows for more information to be sent in the message.
