Salvation Army gives Christmas essentials to hundreds of families
The Salvation Army created a Christmas miracle for hundreds of Southern Colorado families Monday.
Volunteers collected toys and food for anyone who might need them this time of year.
Families picked out toys for their kids and filled shopping carts with holiday essentials.
“My kids will be thankful for everything they get. I know me and my wife are,” Chris Burrill said. “This is more than any of us could ever ask for.”
Organizers said it wasn’t hard finding people who wanted to help.
“This is the most giving, generous community.,” Salvation Army representative Jeane Turner said. “We have had hundreds of volunteers working countless hours.”
Families said they were thankful for holiday blessings.
“Just seeing everyone here get taken care of is a really great experience,” Burrill said. “It’s nice to see the generosity of others.”
