Free haircuts for single moms in Pueblo West

It was a special Small Business Saturday for a single mom in Pueblo West.

While many shoppers were finding the best deals, Sarah Stewart found something for free, a haircut.

She said haircuts for her can cost anywhere from $45 to $100.

“It’s a time saver and a money saver especially when you are single mom, you know you always want to catch the deals when you can,” Stewart said.

The free haircut also helps because she has post-traumatic stress disorder and she is raising her 16-year-old son by herself, which can be hard on the wallet.

“I always have to work within my budget and teenagers are very expensive,” Stewart said.

Hello Beautiful Salon in Pueblo West offered the free haircuts for Small Business Saturday. Cosmetologist Peter Vansalisbury said the last thing single mothers like Stewart should worry about is paying for a trim.

“Most of the mothers I know, especially single mothers I know, are always putting themselves last and we wanted to change that and put them first for once,” he said.

As for Stewart, she said if she is going to face the stresses of life she can at least look good doing it.

The salon is going to be offering free haircuts for single moms throughout the month of December.
