Garbage truck fire closes major roadway in Colorado Springs Thursday afternoon

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO)-- The Colorado Springs Fire Department is on scene at South Academy Boulevard where a garbage truck has caught fire.

Academy is closed at Academy Park Loop while crews work to remove the truck from the roadway.

Officials ask residents to avoid the area.
