High school students are helping the homeless

Students at Central High School say since they have a lot, they want to give back to the community.

The students are part of a career choices class at the high school. They have been asking students and staff at the school for food, clothes and other items to give to people less fortunate.

They plan on giving the supplies to POSADA and the Pueblo Rescue Mission, both organizations serve people who are homeless.

The students said since there are people in need, they want to help.

“I want them to have their stuff that they really need for the winter and for Christmas,” 18-year-old student Mario Helwig said.

“It makes me feel like a better person inside,” student Francesca Encina said.

“This is a big thing for me, I always try to help in some kind of way,” student Natalie Fernandez said.

The students plan to give the supplies next Tuesday.
