Snow doesn’t stop Veterans Day festivities in Pueblo

It’s a Veterans Day celebration that draws hundreds of people each year to the Arkansas Riverwalk in Pueblo, but because of Mother Nature that changed.

The cold weather forced Pueblo’s annual celebration to move into American Legion Post 2.

Hundreds of people packed the legion’s hall to honor the veterans who served their country.

The regular traditions like the singing of the national anthem, the presentation of colors, and a gun salute happened.

A retired Air Force colonel said it doesn’t matter where the event was as long as veterans were being honored.

“Veterans Day it is nice that we can appreciate the people who are and were serving and it’s kind of nice that we can appreciate it surviving our tours of duty,” Ret. Col. Mike Sumida said.

Veterans from all military branches were there to celebrate.
